Name: Severus Snape
Nickname(s): Sevvikins, Snivellus, Snivelly
Age:
Birthday: January 9, 1958
House: Was in Slytherin
Job Position:Professor
Creature: Human
Affiliation: Order, Death Eater
Physical Looks:
Severus is tall, his build lean and slender. He will never be a broadly-shaped or strong man, limbs long and thin, a certain wiry strength to him though Severus is clearly not cut out for physical feats. His most graceful feature would be his hands, elegant and finely-boned, the hands of an artist or a thief, clever and dexterous, usually wrapped around a book or absent-mindedly twirling a quill. He is not a handsome boy, features too sharp to be called such. Long, lank strands of sable frame a sallow face that seems permanently set into a scowl, angular features more often than not betraying disdain or a sardonic sort of condescencion. His eyes are impossibly dark, hard chips of obsidian that give nothing away, appearing like tunnels above the sharp angles of cheekbones. He favors dark colors and clothing when not stalking about in his school uniform, the heavy materials only enhancing his sinister appearance, giving rise to rumors of vampirism and other equally ridiculous notions. There is nothing soft or forgiving about his appearance, and likewise his personality reflects an equal lack of mercy. He is sarcastic and cynical, cold and aloof. His only displays of emotion tend to be fits of temper, in which he is just as prone to snap curses as throw things.
Personality:
Severus is, in a word, inscrutable. Cold and calculating, the young man never developed any close relationships, or even seemed to desire them. He is ambitious and dedicated to work, harboring a brilliant mind and meticulous nature. He favors knowledge over sentimentality, and holds himself aloof from most normal activities of a man his age. Severus is prone to derision, condescencion, and an ability to skewer the unwary with a wit that is more incisive than charming. He is sardonic and jaded, dysfunctional childhood making him loathe to trust, and easy to wound.
For the most part, Severus is sullen, studious and introverted. He lacks anything resembling people skills, and doesn’t bother attempting to cultivate any. He’s snappish, waspish and as prickly as a porcupine when he’s insulted. He considers himself very intelligent, and firmly believes that despite his family he’s much better than anyone he went to school with. He relies on his skills in the Dark Arts and Potions, cultivating those to make up for his lack of money or social life. He considers them far more important than other people, anyway. He is as friendly as he can be with a handful of Slytherin students he went to school with, but doesn’t go out of his way to keep up the relationships.
He’s convinced himself that he needs no one else, so it hardly matters, and it’s not his *fault* he has no friends, he just doesn’t want any. He loathes anything he perceives as charity, preferring to handle every aspect of his life himself. He is not above bowing and scraping to those he feels will be of use to him.

Economic background: Poor
History:
In 1965, Severus Snape was born! No-one knows what happened in his life between here and when he attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We do know that he may possibly have had a traumatic childhood as in one of his memories his parents were arguing. Poor Sevvikins. Sevvikins? Where the hell did that come from?! Anyhoos...in 1976, at the age of 11, Severus Snape began his six year stay at Hogwarts. When he started Hogwarts, it is said that he knew more curses than half the students in the seventh year and was famous for his fascination with the Dark Arts. He was part of a group of Slytherin's, half of which turned out to be Death Eaters.
According to Sirius Black, he was a, 'slimy, oily, greasy-haired kid.' He was also in the same year as James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew all of which he hated - especially James Potter, Harry's father. They loathed each other and Dumbledore compares their hatred to how Harry and Draco hate each other. The main reason they hated each other was because of a practical joke they were going to play on Snape. Every month, Lupin went somewhere and Snape was trying to find out what he was up to in an attempt to get him expelled. Snape had seen Lupin crossing the grounds with Madam Pomfrey as she led him towards the Whomping Willow. Black thought it would be highly amusing to tell Snape that all he had to do was prod the knot on the tree with a long stick and he'd be able to follow Lupin. Snape tried, but if he had got to the Shrieking Shack (which you get to through a tunnel under the Whomping Willow) he would have met a fully grown werewolf. Lupin was an Animagus which means he could change into an animal. If Snape had got to the house, he would probably have been killed. When Potter found out what Black had done, he went after Snape and pulled him back although Snape saw Lupin in his werewolf form and Dumbledore forbid him to tell anyone.
According to Lupin and Sirius, James hated Snapey because he dabbled in the Dark Arts and Snapey hated James because he was popular and good at everything. I'm sure there was more to it than that though. Also, we discovered in OotP that he was bullied by Sirius, Lupin and James (and Pettigrew too I suppose, but he seemed too busy wetting himself) In Snape's worst memory, he had been hung upside down and humiliated by James and Sirius in front of loads of people. We also discovered be wore greying underwear and may possibly (note, possibly is in italics so we don't know for sure) have had his undergarments removed by James. Was also given the nicknames 'Snivellus' and 'Snivelly'.
It was also during school that Snape began to hear tales of Lord Voldemort, a rising dark wizard whose impact upon society was becoming stronger with each passing year. Fascinated and intrigued by one who might teach him even more about the Dark Arts, Snape set out immediately after graduation to seek out this man and place himself under his tutelage. Perhaps Voldemort saw something of himself in Snape, the half-blood wizard so desperately escaping home, or perhaps he saw the vehemence and honesty in Snape's desire to learn, but he was placed in a position of esteem and trust among his death eaters, a place rivaled only by Bellatrix. In 1977, Snape witnessed the death of Regulus Black, an event that disturbed him and brought the smallest worm of a doubt into his mind about those he served. However, expertly taught in legilimency and occlumency, he was able to shroud this doubt until it was genuinely crushed.
Sample RP:
"None," He whispered. Bellatrix had a way of hurting someone emotional and physically she was the best at saying anything and making it hurt you. Severus thought no one knew about his feelings about Lily Evan, he guessed wrong. He did not want to make enemies with his own house let alone Bellatrix Black who would make everything ten times worse than they already were.
Severus stood tall, he was not going to let him be afraid of her. "I do not wish to give the Slytherin a bad name, Bellatrix. If I do I know what will happen." The last thing was to everyone to know about his feelings, he knew James Potter would never let him see the end of it, and either would Sirius Black. He had to end this once and for all. Even if it would kill him in the end.
"I am not a mudblood, I am not like that filthly mudblood girl. So don't you dare say I am Bellatrix!" He snapped. Severus was not going to let Bellatrix know he was nothing more than a half-breed.
